My daddio turned ’52’ today! It’s not a special number by any means, but it sure means a whole lot to my family that we are celebrating today. Last July, my dad went in for a routine physical and came out with an appointment for a colonoscopy. 3 months later, on October 8th, my dad was diagnosed with Colon Cancer.. and I was devastated. I remember that day vividly and something tells me I always will. When my dad told me he had cancer, I felt the like the world below me opened up and swallowed me whole…fastforward to January and dad started a heavy round of chemotherapy and radiation and for 6 weeks lived by the Foothills Hospital in Calgary for his treatments. It was hard on him, but you couldn’t tell from talking to him, his spirits were up and he knew he could pull through this.

On April 14th, dad went in for surgery and thankfully they were able to remove the cancer! My dad is now 100% cancer free! He is slowly healing from surgery and getting used to a new lifestyle that having colon cancer gives you, but he is doing amazing and I am so proud of him!

My dad is one amazing man, he’s always been there for my family and me and never asked for much in return. Family is the most important thing to him and he and my mom have the kind of love only few of us could ever be blessed to have, let alone witness! His life is a blessed one and so is anyone’s whose lives he’s touched!

For his birthday card, I went with his favorite sport of golf and chose Taylored Expressions ‘Boys Will be Boys’ stamp set. This set is ingenious! It has everything you need for masculine birthdays, Father’s Day cards..you name it!

I used Vintage Cream for my card base, then layered Creative Imaginations ‘Old Guys Rule” golf patterned papers in the background. I stamped my image and sentiment from the ‘Boys will be Boys’ set and finished it off using my nesties, some New Leaf green ribbon and New Leaf vintage buttons! I love how this card turned out and I can’t wait for him to see it tonight!

I’m off to enjoy my evening and a walk with the pooch! Have a great Monday night everyone!

Hey Everyone!

I hope your weekends are coming along fabulously and you are all getting out and enjoying (what I hope is) amazing weather! I was in the garden yesterday and got a little too much sun and this morning was a little cloudy and rainy, but the sky has opened up and the sun is shining! I wish everyday was part of a weekend:)
My card today will be sent off to the beautiful West Coast this week as I got an email from my girlfriend in Victoria and she is officially an aunty! Her sister-in-law gave birth to a beautiful baby girl on Thursday afternoon, and they have decided to call her Audrey..isn’t that classic? To send along my congrats I decided to make a card using Papertrey Ink’s Bitty Baby Blessings collection..

I decided to forgo the traditional pinks in this card and stayed with Lemon Yellow, Spring Moss and focused more on the purples in the patterned paper. Its fresh and cozy, just like a newborn:)

I stamped the ‘onesie’ image onto patterned paper and cut it out using my craft knife and then used pop dots to lift the cutout from the rest of the card. As this is their first child, I chose the stamp sets sweet “Baby Makes Three’ sentiment..
I finished the card off with Papertrey’s Plum Purple polka dotted ribbon and a couple of silver rhinestones for some added glam. I can’t wait til she gets this in the mail!
Have a great evening everyone and for those in the United States, enjoy your long weekend! I’ll be back tomorrow with a special posting for my dad’s birthday as well as show you the “par-fect” card I made for him 😉
Happy Crafting!

Hey Everyone!

Just a quick post tonight.. I hope you are all enjoying your Friday evenings..I know I have been, its absolutely beautiful here tonight!!

While browsing through my card stash this afternoon, I realized that I really don’t have that many ‘boy’ birthday cards and I knew that my Cakey Watt stamp would be perfect for one! I stamped him onto my Stampers Select White Cardstock, then used my new Robo-Tech patterned papers, matching them with Summer Sunrise cardstock and Ocean Tides for the backgrounds..

I coloured my image in with Prisma’s, and finished off the cake with Chocolate Stickles..YUM!

For a finishing effect, I tied Summer Sunrise ribbon into a cute little bow and voila!

Isn’t he cute? Have a great weekend everyone!

So, I thought I was waiting for the next Color Inspiration Challenge on the KWernerDesign blog and I go to check her blog and it looks like I completely missed this week! I love these colours too, very beachy!

Oh well, even though I can’t participate I will still create a card out of these colors tonight when I get home from work..

Edited to add: Okay, since I’m not submitting this card for the challenge, I cheated.. a little. I used a few other colours in the coloring of the stamp, but it worked out for the better anyways so I’m happy with it! Since the color scheme this week was very beachy/summery, I went with my Hannah Stamp that I had yet to ink..

I used Aqua Mist, Lemon Tart, Summer Sunrise, Kraft and White cardstocks for the colors this week. This card is a very simple design as I used my scallop border punch for my background aqua, then cut rectangles from my two citrus cardstocks! Easy Peasy!

To finish, I used my small circle and small scalloped circle nesties for the sentiment, which I love from The Cat’s Pajamas..which is so true on most days is it not?
Have a great night everyone!

Happy Wednesday Everyone!

It’s a short week for us Canadians as Monday was a holiday, so this week is flying by for me! Its a gorgeous evening here, nice and sunny and actually decent temperatures (especially seeing as it was trying to snow this morning!). As I mentioned in my previous post, my girlfriend/coworker is celebrating her birthday tomorrow.. and since I know she has a love of ladybugs, I decided to make her a set of 4 ‘Thank You” cards that are just her style..
I used my ‘Little Lady’ stamp set for my lady bug and as well as her flight pattern styled dots and the sentiment came from Dawn McVey’s very own handwriting in this set! I finished off the card by adding a scalloped border in True Black, polka dot ribbon in Pure Poppy and True Black as well as used Black Diamond stickles in the spots on the ladybugs’ back..
Just a little something for her that I am throwing in with a garden paver I found that has a lady bug on it made from hundreds of little pieces of glass.. I know she’ll love it all!!
Have a great night everyone!
