Happy Sunday everyone!!

We were taking off to Calgary today for a very important date tomorrow but Mother Nature made other plans. Its below freezing here and it started to rain..and I don’t have to spell it out how those two elements don’t mix! The entire city is a skating rink! We tried to take off this morning and, with Adams injured knee, it took us 15 minutes to get him to the truck which was then preceeded with sliding down the driveway, spinning tires and a 180 in the middle of a very busy street. After the little turn I decided enough’s enough and we turned back around and headed for home. I feel terrible for not making it but its better to be safe then sorry! We will attempt to go again in the morning, so please, keep your fingers crossed!

In the meantime, Adam is resting his leg and I am sitting here on the good old laptop pinning away on Pinterest and dreaming up fun ideas for this, our most merriest month of all!! In fact, today I decided to go thru my moms old photo albums and pulled a few favorite Christmas photos to scan to my computer for scrapbooking later (maybe a mini book is in order?!)

I thought I’d share with you a few favorites here…

My brother & I after we opened our presents in 1989

I’m not going to lie, I still make this face when opening presents!

I love this photo!!

Happy December 2nd everyone!!

  • dawn - aawww how cute these are. I actually thought about doing this and putting one in my DD this year. I love love Christmas photos of me growing up, mom said she’d never seen anyone so excited as ME!

Yes, you should make a mini and put some of Adams in there too. What a precious album that will be.

Hope the roads stay safe for your ride there and home again!!ReplyCancel

City sidewalks, busy sidewalks, dressed in holiday style..

We are still in the city while Adam recovers from his surgery and tonight we celebrated the first of December with an outing that involved Christmas lights, Starbucks Peppermint Mochas and Christmas carols on Sirius XM Radio (channel 4 & 17, if you’re interested!!) I absolutely love the holidays and being in the city just brings me right back to my childhood. As a little girl, our family would hop in to our vehicle, listen to Christmas carols and drive around all the neighborhoods, looking for the prettiest lights. Every time we drove by a pretty house with a decorated tree in the front window, my heart would soar with excitement as I anticipated Christmas Eve and the arrival of Santa Claus.

The Christmas season is a very special and magical time for me. I’m like a big kid! I’m a little bit like Will Ferrel’s character, Elf..I could celebrate the holidays all year thru!! Today, we started our advent calendars (yes we are not children any longer but, who cares??) and tonight, while driving around the city, Adam & I made a pact that this December would be the merriest of months we have yet spent together..I’m so excited you guys!!

I hope you are getting geared up for the holidays! I will be sharing my favorite holiday traditions, crafts, movies, etc all month long..stick with me, this will be fun!!! Happy December 1st everyone!!

Hi Friends

We had an early start to the day today, my farmer is finally undergoing ACL surgery for his left knee and we have been waiting for over a year for this day. Adam tore his ACL 3 summers ago while wakeboarding and never looked in to getting it fixed until I came along and made him realize how serious it was. Sometimes he can snap it just stepping off of a tractor and can be in pain for days!! He’s just too young for that and so I’m very thankful that we are now getting it looked after.

We needed to be at the hospital by 6 am and his surgery started at 7:45. I will be able to pick him up at 3 this afternoon and, although that is still 7 hours away, I’m so excited to see him and know that everything went well!

Certain things I’d like to remember about today:
-I want to remember how calm Adam was leading up to today. If it were me I would have started panicking last week already but not my farmer, happy as a clam

  • Lynette - Hoping and praying that it all went well and that he recovers quickly.ReplyCancel

  • dawn - Hi Dawn!! I’m so glad that he will be feeling better after this surgery. I would’ve been a bundle of nerves too, doctors/hospitals are not my thing. That’s great he has you there to take care of him and encourage him to do this too. Sending prayers and hugs for you both.ReplyCancel

Hey everyone!

I tried uploading my photos for this post a few days ago but I was having a few technical issues, thankfully they have been resolved and now I get to share with you my version of December Daily! If you are new to the December Daily phenomenon, please click  here

So, with that..I introduce to you my 2012 December Favorites album. What is a December Favorites album? Its a December Daily thats perfect for me. Its an album where I can collect and record all my favorite December moments, Christmas memories, traditions and records. I am no longer putting the pressure on myself to record what happened every single day (some days the hilight is being with my chickens..and, don’t get me wrong, they’ll probably make it in to my album, but every day? boring!) No..instead it’ll be whatever I want it to be..no rules, no restrictions. I just want to have fun with it and I’m pretty excited to see how I do! And yes, I just might add random things that happen thru-out December but again, its whatever I want it to be!

Here is my album cover. I decided to use my December Daily album from Studio Calico that I received last year in their DD Kit, I love the 6×8 pages..perfect for recording just the right amount of photos and information

Eek! I just love it. It makes me smile every time I walk in to my studio and see it sitting there, waiting to be filled with sparkly Christmas goodness!!

I covered the spine with OA paper and a calendar that was also included in the Studio Calico DD kit last year. The glitter banner was from Teresa Collins..love it!

Okay now for a peek inside to my introduction page..

I cannot tell you how much I love this page! I adhered a photo of our outdoor lights (ain’t it purdy?) on top of Amuse Art Studio chevron paper and then layered that with Freckled Fawn washi tape. The wood veneer “oh hello” is Studio Calico and stamps are Studio Calico, Papertrey Ink and Kelly Purkey

I used Studio Calico mist in Holly Berry to mist a few wood veneer stars that I adhered to my top journalling die cut. Stamp is Kelly Purkey

So thats what I’ll be working on in December..only a few more days left!! Are you doing December Daily this year? I’d love to see what you are working on!! Happy Crafting everyone!

Hi friends!!

First off, to all my American friends..I want to wish you a happy belated Thanksgiving!! I hope you all enjoyed yourselves and spent some much needed time with family & friends, surrounded by good food and lots of laughter! Did anyone go out and do any Black Friday shopping? I browsed online from the comfort of my own home and could not believe some of the amazing deals out there!!

Today I am writing you from my parents’ living room, lately it seems as though I’m spending more time in the city than at the farm and considering its the holiday season, I’m quite alright with that 😉

Unfortunately I do not have many photos to post today as I am using their computer, not my own..but my absolute favorite photo of the week has to be this one of my lil man..

and with that, here are a few favorites of mine from this past week:

– I want to remember waking up Sunday morning and walking to the chicken coop, excited to see my babies as I had been gone to the city for a few days. Upon entering the pen to feed them, I was attacked by 2 of my bigger roosters (including Roo, my favorite that I was saving from slaughter) he kept coming at me and I would boot him a little, trying to scare him off. He drew blood from both my knees before I screamed, threw their food up in a dramatic scene and ran off, tears in my eyes. I then found my farmer and through sobs explained what had happened and proceeded to ask him to shoot the roosters before I had a chance to change my mind. To this day, I don’t feel near as sad or as guilty as I thought I would..
– I want to remember that since said rooster incident occured, my flock of 9 hens and 2 roosters has now become a much calmer, relaxed and happier bunch!
-I want to remember spending Sunday afternoon decorating our home for the holidays. This year I put up 2 full sized trees and although it was quite the job..I’m in love with how it looks
-I want to remember spending the day Tuesday gathering even more house supplies with Adam. I sat in our truck for approx 3 hours while he discussed air exchangers & venting with salesmen (snoozefest!!)
-I want to remember a certain little miracle that happened this week that I was so grateful for. I needed it with everything going on in our lives
-I want to remember driving to the city to spend the night with my folks while listening to the Holiday Traditions channel on Sirius (all Holiday classics, all the time YAY!)
-I want to remember going to the hospital on Wednesday with Adam to discuss everything that is happening next week with his ACL surgery..he’s been in need of this surgery for 3 years…its time!
-I want to remember the snow falling and the roads freezing over so badly that we needed to stay in the city one more night. I enjoyed it so much, we gathered in my parents living room and watched Fred Claus while the Christmas tree twinkled..it made my heart happy
-I want to remember driving back to the farm on Thursday while the roads were solid ice. I was so grateful for my husbands driving skills and that we made it home safe & sound
– I want to remember learning life lessons every single day
– I want to remember being reminded that marriage is hard. Two people coming together and making it work is something to be so grateful for but sometimes we just need to butt heads. But whats important is the ability to always talk things out and to always know that no matter what, your going to fight for it because it just so worth it
-I want to remember surprising my momma yesterday. My poor daddio was feeling under the weather and they had a wedding to go to of a dear family friend. So I drove the 2.5 hours to make it and I had such a blast! We met some old friends that we hadn’t seen in quite some time and shared some laughs and tears..
-I want to remember that I get to spend Grey Cup Sunday with my family (minus my farmer) today. For you Americans who may not know…Grey Cup Sunday is the biggest day in Canadian football. The 2 top teams in our nation compete today for the title of Grey Cup winners and the season ends until next year. We traditionally celebrate by having the tv blasting while the tasty appetizers just keep a comin’ …

Whatever you are up to this weekend..I hope you are enjoying yourselves!! Have a great Sunday everyone!

  • dawn - Hi Dawn,
LOVE LOVE THIS POST!! What a cute picture of your dog, made me laugh! What a busy girl you’ve been between city and farm life, how nice for you. Soooo sorry about your roosters, glad your feeling ok about it and they are all happy now. I like to put up two trees when I can also, LOVE having trees all over the house. Can’t wait to see yours, how exciting for you. What true words you wrote about marriage, so very true for me too. I’m so glad your staying positive and strong with your marriage vows. It is the toughest part of life and will be again when you add kids to the mix.
Thanks for the update, love these posts!!
p.s. we had a yummy and warm and great Thanksgiving! Hoping to post pictures soon, computer is acting up on uploading for now though.ReplyCancel

  • Lynette - Such a precious post…I love it. I am so sorry that your rooster was so aggro and that you got hurt. I am glad that your little flock is calmer now.ReplyCancel
