Happy Saturday Morning!!

Its one of the most beautiful mornings here today..the birds are chirping, the sun is shining and the warmth of the last of summer days just makes me smile! These are the days of summer that I truly enjoy..ones that encourage you to relax, take things slow and enjoy what’s around you! Speaking of which, do you know that feeling you get when you sit down to create something and everything just seems to work? Everything falls into place and you just sit back and smile? My card today is exactly that kind of project! I’ve been struggling the last little while, trying to find my “style”, so to speak. Something that expresses what’s in my mind out on paper and something that just speaks to me..

I’ve always loved the look of vintage, shabby-chic..but admired it from afar as I had no idea where to begin! Most shabby-chic cards have layers that draw you in and its intimidating to me and therefore most of my cards always seemed just a little too one dimensional. But then I found artists that inspire me, such as Melissa Phillips. Everything she creates is beautiful and inspiring and if you have..oh say a whole day, sit down to her blog and lose yourself in her creations! I strongly encourage it:)
So, without further hesitation..here is my first attempt at something a little more shabby-chic..
I finally took out my Making Memories’ Chloe’s Closet collection..which I loved the very first time I saw it..but had no idea what I was going to make with it!! Everything you see on here is MM, minus the orange gems from Kaiser Crafts..
Sure, this card is a little more “Spring-like”, but I don’t care.. I just love it to pieces!!
For the flower, I layers a cardstock sticker with 3 different sizes of Chloe’s Closet florals and then topped it off with a lemon MM button and PTI Rustic Jute Twine. And to finish it off I added 3 more buttons..just because I could:)
So..what do you think? I’d love for you to leave me a comment below and tell me your thoughts!!
Otherwise, enjoy your weekend everyone and take care!!
Happy Crafting!

It’s almost the end of the week and its the best feeling ever:)Tomorrow we will be sitting down to discuss our roadtrip through BC and Seattle that is coming up in 2 weeks, then Saturday is a golf event with Luke’s company ( I am not a golfer..not even by a longshot..so this should be pretty interesting!!) and then Sunday I’m taking the whole day to work in my studio and prep for my table that I’m setting up on October 4th for Bustin Loose, the race to end breast cancer.

I will be selling a few of my autumn/halloween cards, including this cutie from Stamping Bella
I mixed a few different seasons’ worth of Making Memories halloween lines of patterned paper, used my SB stamp and colored in with my Copics/Prismas and cut the image out with my small circle nesties. The sentiment is from Karen Lockhart..
For a finishing touch, I used burnt orange Kaisercraft gems on the pumpkin. Speaking of which, I was beyond excited when I heard that PTI will now be carrying these little beauties in their store! You have no idea how frustrating it is to go into my lss and they never have the same colors from month to month!
So, how are you doing with your Halloween cards? Do you make anything special or do anything special for this coming season? I’d love to hear from you!!

  • Banu - Amazing Coloring. Loved it. :) Beautiful card. I am not much of a Halloween Person. I have just one set from Angel Stamp company. I have not inked it yet :(ReplyCancel

I don’t know if the same holds true in your life, but in mine? We sure are welcoming a lot of baby girls into the world!! I have known of one baby boy born in the last year and a half..and trust me, we’ve had a lot of babies lately!! For instance, my brother’s friends recently welcome their first child into the family and you’ll never guess..it was a GIRL!! (hehe) Needless to say, I’ve stocked up on some girlie papers for times such as these:)

I mixed a few different PTI patterned papers (Bitty Baby Blessings, Plum Pudding Polka Dots and Guidelines)I was in a very “purple” kind of mood..as you can tell, but I really love the end result!
I used my favorite baby sentiment from Verve for this card and then filled in the stars with Icicle Stickles..

To finish off the card, I used my Fiskars star punch with the coordinating patterned papers, used my oval nesties for being the sentiment and tied up with a Plum Pudding Twill Ribbon..all from PTI

My brother loves this card and will be giving it away to the proud new parents on Friday!!

So thats it for me! Have a great rest of your Wednesday and let me know what you think of my latest card! I’d love to hear from you!!
Happy Crafting!

  • Laura - This is a very pretty card and I love the saying. I’ll have to check out the Verve stamps. Thanks for your kind comment about my card! I’m from Southern Alta originally too, born in Lethbridge!ReplyCancel

  • Banu - Very nice card. I loved the colors :) Verve stamps are awesome.ReplyCancel

Halloween will be here before you know it and I’m working hard to come up with a few cute and different ideas this year for handouts to my coworkers and their children. I was strolling the aisles of Michaels the other week and came across these adorable plastic cauldrons and knew I had to make something with them!

So I decided that treat kits were the way to go as I LOVE making up little goodie bags for my coworkers every year! I started by cutting up a few small tags from PTI cardstock, stamped them with my sentiment from TCP, heat embossed my spiderweb image with Filigree Clear embossing powder and popped in an eyelet and voila!
Here is a finished kit..pretty cute hey?

Now I can’t wait to fill these up with some delicious candies and hand these out..I’m sure they are going to be a hit!! Have a great night everyone!

2 posts in one day!! Woo hoo!!

I haven’t participated in Dawn McVey’s color challenges all summer so I thought I’d try my hand at it once again:)We have been invited to a neighbor’s house for a fun, old fashioned barbeque so I thought I should pick up a bouquet of beautiful flowers and make a card to thank my gracious hostess for opening up their home to us. And since summer barbeques always remind me of days gone by, I thought I’d try my hand at a little bit more of a vintage look with this challenge..
I used Papertrey Ink’s Everyday Button Bits for the floral image and their Mega Mixed Messages stamp set for the sentiment..

PTI’s Vintage Buttons in Melon Berry and Hibiscus allowed me to incorporate more color, in smaller doses..which is perfect in these kinds of challenges when you have know idea how to bring them all together!
I stamped the sentiment in Hibiscus ink onto Vintage Cream cardstock as well..
And to finish off my card, I stamped Polka Dot Basics ll onto Versmark ink and heat embossed it with filigree clear embossing powder.. I love the look it gives my cards!!
So that’s my submission for this weeks’ challenge! What do you think?
Have a great Sunday everyone!
