I cannot believe we are in the middle of August already! More so, I can’t believe it but our harvest has already begun as well! We started late last week and I kept saying to Adam, “It just seems too early, it seems like Summer just got here”…for me, Harvest symbolizes Fall (my favorite time of year) and this year I’ve been having a hard time adjusting to Summer being almost over, it flew by crazy fast, didn’t it?!
Nevertheless, Harvest is here whether we were ready for it or not and the farm has been a busy little hive, a well oiled machine if you ask me. I’ve settled in to life on the farm a lot easier than I thought I would and harvest is no different! I pack lunches, send him off, take care of the house, decide if I need to bake {my father in law texted me this morning stating cool days are perfect for baking bread & buns – think thats a hint?!}, walk to the bins when Adam is back in the yard to visit for 20 minutes while he unloads the semi of grain and continue this process til he gets home in the dark, exhausted and hungry. I love harvest – its my favorite part of farming..it has a rich history in this country and I am proud to be a part of it. The golden fields, the combines in all the fields, the harvest moons – ack..love it all!!
With that being said, I have taken a few photos of our harvest so far and thought I would share them with you on this cool, Monday morning..
dawn - WOW, these are gorgeous pictures, love seeing your farm. I hear the excitment in your voice just reading this, sooooo happy for you and the farm life. Hard to believe August is here already for me too, the summer was sooo hot and we didn’t enjoy being outside as much as I’d like. Looking forward to the cooler temps and fall is my favorite season also.
Enjoy all the yummy fresh food you have to pick, we have been eating our corn like crazy!!
Take care and enjoy the week. HUGS!
Lynette - Thank you for giving us a peek into your life…it must be a dream to live on a farm. Thank you too…for leaving such lovely encouraging comments on my blog. You will never know how much it means to me.
